One Pound Fish
The popular name OF the British-based Pakinstani singer Muhammad Shahid Nazir who originally composed the song 'One Pound Fish' as a promotional piece for the fish market where he was employed as a sales person. Unexpectedly, the song started to rise up the British music charts soon after it was released on December 7, 2012 for digital download in United Kingdom on iTunes. On December 30, 2012, the song reached number 28 in the UK Singles Chart, number 5 in the UK Dance Chart, and number 1 in the UK Asian Chart.
Nazir, a father of four who immigrated to the UK as a student from the little-known Punjab town of Pattoki, landed a job as a fish monger at the Queen's Market in Upton Park after graduation. His employer instructed him to use a trader's call to attract customers, but instead he composed the song 'One Pound Fish' to market his business.
