East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry
The East Coast–West Coast Hip Hop Rivalry was an ongoing feud in the 1990s between record labels, artists and fans of the East Coast and West Coast hip-hop scenes in the United States. The feud centered around East Coast-based rapper The Notorious B.I.G. (Bad Boy Records), and West Coast-based rapper Tupac Shakur (Death Row Records). Both Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. were murdered by members of opposite scenes in 1996 and 1997 respectively.
