The 26.4 miles long cross-sea bridge linking China's eastern port city of Qingdao to the offshore island Huangdao. Supported by more than 5,000 pillars across the bay, the 110 ft wide road bridge is currently the longest of its kind, beating the previous record-holder - the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana - by almost three miles.

Constructions of the Qingdao Bay bridge started in 2006 and the entire project cost nearly $2 billion.

However, the engineering feat will only hold the record as the longest sea bridge for a few years before it will be beaten by another Chinese bridge linking southern Guangdong province with Hong Kong and Macau.
